  • Singing the Soul

This workshop is designed for those of us who can't help but sing, and tend to sing 'outside the box' so to speak.  Through exploration of movement, sound, and energy, participants will learn to empower your music, learn to sing with your true voice, and better express the song that is in your soul.

  • Awareness Through Movement® for the Older and Wiser

Would you like to: move better? Be more flexible? More limber? Walk with grace? Think more clearly? Reclaim lost past-times?  Play with your grandchildren?

It’s been said that it’s not important how old you are, but how you are old. The older we get, the more cleaver we must become. As we age, it becomes more important than ever to use our bodies efficiently. We must improve our quality and ease of motion, our coordination, our sense of balance, control and comfort. In this 3 week class series, you will be given tools to do just that!

These 3 gentle lessons will increase your ability to move with grace, power, and ease.  They are easy enough for anyone to do, and can be modified for any limitation. Begin again and reclaim your body’s innate ability to move!

  • Awareness Through Movement® for the Performing Artist

The language of the Performing Artist is very physical; we speak constantly in terms like breathing, gesture and weight. In using the Feldenkrais Method® to explore how we go about physically creating our art, we begin to notice what our habits are—perhaps we tend to make a certain quality of sound which we don’t vary much, or we have a limited range of emotional affects we are comfortable with on the stage. Once we are aware of what we are doing, we can begin to sense a whole new range of possibilities not only in our movements but in our artistic expression as well.

In this one-day workshop, you will have the opportunity to explore some of your physical and creative habits, and learn to expand your artistic repertoire.  You will experience two Awareness Through Movement® lessons, learn more about the Feldenkrais Method® and participate in a dialogue about how it will continue to benefit your practice and performance.  Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a mat or blanket to lie on.

  • Awareness Through Movement® for Increased Creativity

Creativity is not limited to artists and performers.  It can be developed by all of us in our everyday lives. How, when, and where do we get to explore this creativity? What do we mean when we talk about creativity? Do you consider yourself a creative person? Do you know people who are creative?

What stands out when someone is being creative is one’s ability to generate and see varying choices.  We can see this ease of creativity in children.  However, as we get older our creativity does not come so effortlessly.  This does not have to be the case!

If you are interested in being more creative, this one day workshop in the Feldenkrais Method® is for you!  We will evoke a greater sense of choice in our abilities to sense, feel, think, and move in an environment that is safe and pleasurable.  You will explore and elicit your innate curiosity in a gentle and easy way, explore two ATM lessons, learn more about the Feldenkrais Method® and how it will continue to benefit your creative process and creative self!  Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a mat or blanket to lie on.

If you are interested in bringing this workshop to your facility, please contact us to set a date!

Making the Most Of Your Moves

Date: November 21, 2009

Location: the Finger Lakes School of Massage

“As an aging ex-jock, nursing bad knees and shoulders, Functional Integration® and Awareness Through Movement® work helps me develop insight into how my body operates and how it compensates for old injuries.  With a more solid understanding of “what is,” I can start to make intelligent choices about how I want to move, sit, stand, and just function.”
